Why we're building a peer-to-peer parking app — the problem with parking today, what ParkQ will do about it, and an honest note on where we are right now.
Every driver knows the feeling. You're circling the block, ten minutes late already, watching an empty driveway sit there doing nothing. Meanwhile, a few streets away, someone has a parking spot they aren't using today — and no easy way to share it.
That gap is why ParkQ exists.
The idea in one line
ParkQ is a peer-to-peer short-term parking app. People with empty private spots list them; drivers nearby discover them on a live map, book in seconds, and park with confidence. That's the whole pitch — no gimmicks, no "disruption," just a marketplace for something cities already have plenty of: unused space.
Why peer-to-peer
Building new parking is slow and expensive. But most private parking — driveways, office bays after hours, spare slots in apartment basements — sits empty for large parts of the day. Peer-to-peer unlocks that supply without pouring a single new slab of concrete.
For drivers, it means more choice close to where you're actually going. For hosts, it means an empty spot can quietly earn instead of sitting idle.
What we're building
The app covers the full loop: discovering spots on a map, booking them, managing your vehicles, and in-app messaging so drivers and hosts can coordinate. Hosts create listings with photos, prices, and availability; every listing goes through moderation before it appears to drivers.
Some pieces are still on the way. Host payouts, refunds, and QR Smart Stickers are planned for launch — we'll say clearly what's live and what isn't, every step of the way.
An honest note on timing
ParkQ is in pre-launch. The app isn't in the app stores yet, and we're not taking bookings. What we are doing is building in the open: sharing how bookings will work, how hosting will work, and what the road to launch looks like.
